Linguistic Identity Construal of Spanish Youth: ‘The Media Network Has Its Idols, But Its Principal Idol is Its Own Style Which Generates an Aura of Winning and Leaves the Rest in Darkness’

The present investigation attempts to verify why and through what via the contact with English insertions in Spanish discourse changes speech style construes linguistic identity of youth, even if they hardly speak English. In order throw light on above-mentioned hypothesis, Allan Bell’s (1977, 1984, 1991, 1997, 2001) Audience Design Theory was combined an Attitudinal Experiment which 250 students participated from Madrid Complutense University Castilla la Mancha University. were asked listen two different recordings females reading almost same text, difference being that one text contained other did not. As culmination experiment participants specially designed Likert Test. According results following conclusions reached: (i) majority participants, “new generation Digital Natives” (Prensky 2001), accept mass media is major factor influence their style; (ii) youth use because perceive someone who does as young, modern, a cosmopolitan, Spanish-English bilingual trendy; (iii) youngsters without bilinguals; (iv) for neither particular nor sweet type vice can measure cleverness speaker; (v) voice together matter.
